I had a taxi drop me off and the driver even asked me what do you expect to do here. It was very hot out and when I went to go inside it was closed. I don't think anyone bothers coming here since I was the only one here. Luckily the road next to the forts visitor center had plenty... More

Abu Dhabi before oil, very interesting. The tour that we did was great to visit the Mosque and to be driven around the city to look.

The fort was rebuilt a few years ago. Since then it has never been opened to the public. In fact it is not a fort at all! There is a tower in the middle if the channel (beware taking photos, some have been arrested) and an old police station.

This fort has a very valuable signification to the history of the Abu Dhabi. It may not look like much but do go to see it as it is a very historical site indeed. It has a rich history and holds a valuable story of life in the past. If you are standing near this or viewing it just from... More

Doesn't look that big from the outside (or even from within the gates of the fort) but there is a good sized exhibition area underground.

The fort is a reminder of how far the emirates have come in such a short time. The grand vision of Sheik Zayed to use the sovereign wealth of his nation to build a modern city which has conquered the desert. The fort takes us back to the time before the Abu Dhabi that we know. The sand, the heat,... More

Maqtaa fort is ancient piece of history in abu dhabi, but very difficult to access and its pretty much useless going there. If you want , just take a picture of it as you drive by as you cross the Maqtaa bridge. Unfortunately they have not utilized this historical site much.
