The travel books, to paraphrase, said 'perhaps worth a look'. What an understatement. It was a fascinating place, with museum, art gallery and cultural centre all rolled into one. The cafe was lovely, the art was fascinating and the exhibits about the differences between the various different ethnic and family groupings in Oman were most helpful.

The Bait Al-Zubair is a gem of a "cultural" museum. In terms of presentation it does everything right! Bait Al Zubair is the best museum in Muscat and should be a MUST SEE on any tourist's itinerary. Besides tracing back the Al Said - present royal family dynasty, it gives an excellent idea to a tourist about the history and the present of the country.
