A great stop if you want to renew your connection with Oman's history and traditional culture or if you are visiting for the first time. Spans over four buildings and covers history, lifestyle, art and heritage. Well worth it! More

If you have time for only one etnographic collection in Muscat, this is the one to head for: khanjars, jewellery, traditional costumes, coffeepots are all there, plus a selection of old maps and photos, as well as various items from Sheikh al Zubair home. The exhibits stretch over several buildings and floors, so allow at least 2 hours for the... More

Bait Al Zubair Museum is a must for people who love hostorical items. One of the best collections of Omani clothes, daggers, furniture, jewelery and coins. These are the things you will not be able to see in any souk. I loved some of the Omani Daggers, the robes and jewelery items. Will do there again in a couple of... More

A small museum near Mutrah whose displays are a little mundane. You can see similar at most of the numerous restored forts within easy distance of Muscat. More

The travel books, to paraphrase, said 'perhaps worth a look'. What an understatement. It was a fascinating place, with museum, art gallery and cultural centre all rolled into one. The cafe was lovely, the art was fascinating and the exhibits about the differences between the various different ethnic and family groupings in Oman were most helpful. More

The Bait Al-Zubair is a gem of a "cultural" museum. In terms of presentation it does everything right! Exhibits are of genuine "best of type" objects and costumes and these are intelligently presented in such a way that the Omani material culture, "way of life" and historical development is entirely comprehensible. The photograph exhibition of valuable old prints of Oman... More

Bait Al Zubair is the best museum in Muscat and should be a MUST SEE on any tourist's itinerary. Besides tracing back the Al Said - present royal family dynasty, it gives an excellent idea to a tourist about the history and the present of the country. More
