Same comments as I made for Jalili fort. My rating is for the vision of the fort sitting atop of the jebel in Muscat. Without it the feel of history and the vista would not be the same. I do not believe that there is free access to Mirani Fort.

The forts are a great sight from the corniche. Unfortunately they dont allow us to see the forts from the inside. It worth seeing them in the night also.
Their harbour-front location, together with the Palace and other historical landmarks of Muscat's old quarter, seem like elements . If you visit it morning and night you will different experiant . Never to be missed .
If you wish to have a glimse of the sea-side facade of the Al Alam Palace, head for the Mirani fort and the road that passes under the fort. It is a military installation so I am pretty sure you have to be careful about where exactly you take pictures but it is beautiful. The steps in the rocky hills is a pretty neat sight!
Mirani Fort stands out majestically in the Muscat Bay and is historical. It looks as if it is guarding the Muscat Palace. Its museum is one of the best.
