The Alam Palace is found in the old area of Muscat. You can walk right up to the gates for photos. The Sultan's Muscat Palace is majestic, overlooking the Muscat Bay. It is the official residence of HM Sultan Qaboos bin Said, but in recent years he hardly resides here. It is a tourist attraction as a photo stop, since visitors are not allowed in the palace. More

The Sultan Palace in itself has nothing exceptional. However, the whole area is a great example of a modern architecture, which has kept a local, traditional style. Nothing that special and you cannot go inside. Get a taxi to stop and you can take a picture or even the hotel bus will stop but not worth going out of the way for. More
