This unique Bronze Age complex of beehive tombs and towers is fabulously interesting, but is still being excavated and is not yet completely understood. The site is NOT YET READY to be presented as an "Archaeological Park" and so going there with someone archaeologically minded is really the only way to make the visit truely comprehensible and worthwhile. There are... More

I'd have to disagree with previous reviewers on this one. I found the tombs at Al Ayn to be quite interesting although the access to them was heavy guesswork and there was a complete lack of on-site information about the site. The location of the "beehive tombs" on the ridge below Jabal Misht makes for an excellent photo of taken... More

Al Ayn site is about 250km from muscat, which is the capital. No sign boards at all. you have to find it by yourself ! although you can spot it from a distance, there is no clear cut pathway up to that. do not expect any sign board describing ANYTHING about the tomb. Al Khutm site is further away ........ More

The Beehives of Al-Ayn are very nice and easy to spot from the road. However, there is no easy access to get there and zero information on what they are. Bat is even worse. No information, no archaeological site was found. Apperently we missed part of it, but then it's also not too easy to find. Nice if you're an... More

As part of our trip to Oman in early March 2010 we travelled from Nizwa to Al Ain in Abu Dhabi and broke our journey at Ibri in order to visit these sites . We found our way to Al Ayn and happened upon the tombs which stand out on a ridge but it was a bit of luck that... More

I've been to Oman last month and I've visited Bat, but there were no signs, no inscriptions and nobody seemed to know where was the site and what was it. I lost so much time to find it that after that I didn't try to find also Al-Khutm or Al-Ayn. I think that sites protected by Unesco, so receiving public... More
