It wasn't very crowded when we went so we had ample space to walk around and "explore." The ruins were incredible! More

Visiting the temples is like going through thousands of years of human history. One cannot help but be awed by the gigantic task, and the tremendous sacrifice by the slaves, involved in building the temples. visiting Baalbeck is a must. It is even better than Rome or anywhere else I have been. We did an early morning trip. We were the only 5 people there. We had the temples to ourselves and it was truly amazing. Make sure you take a guide (we paid $20 for one between 5 people, he stayed with us as long as we wanted and was very knowledgeable, he approached us outside the temple) as you will... More
