I really enjoyed the Jeita Grotto itself. However, the whole trip was marred by the animals they have in cages near the entrance of the lower caves. There was a mountain goat chained up by the horns which had nowhere to move, two porcipines in a cage so small they could barely turn around, a turtle with a bad eye...

I thought I had stepped into the pages of the National Geographical magazine. The Grotto was magical. Be careful about not clicking any photographs...they are indeed very strict about this. The Grotto is a short cable car ride away, and the return journey is by a charming toy train. Keep three hours for the whole thing...and check before going because...
