One of Jerusalem's most interesting synagogues. This underground place of worship in the Jewish Quarter of the Old City belongs to the Karaite Jews--Jews who believe only in the Biblical commandments, not the later rabbinic decrees that the majority of the world's Jews live by today. The Synagogue is one of the oldest in the world dating back to the 8th century. They have a guided tour and have a video presentation, and the guide Joshua Levy is most delightful and is in the process of learning English.
