The Old city is really diverse. You can trace out the last days of Jesus, take a tour that goes down to the depths of the Wall, see (but unfortunately not visit) significant religious sites for Islam, visit the tower of David and the interesting history of Jerusalem contained inside, and just wander around neighborhoods that to an American are... When I was a child, I was disappointed because i expected the Golden City to be golden. Yet it really is old and beige! The christian, armenian, and Muslim quarts are older, the jewish quart has a lot reconstructed, so you'll find more modern buildings that still look like the old city. There is a lot to see and visit.... More

The old city is amazing, a little tense with the religious dynamics but the sights and beauty is fantastic, you must wear very comfy walking shoes and be prepared for the huge amount of ups and downs! It's tiring but stunning, and be open minded to the cultural tensions but the amount of history oozes from the very fabric of... More

A nice place to visit even if you are not religious. The historical city is worth visiting at least one. Found it to be crowded but fun place to watch the people. Be careful about your guide, he or she can make all the difference in this experience.

Walking the Old City is great fun and great people watching. There are tons of little hole in the wall restaurants serving great middle eastern food as well.

The tensions between the Orthodox and Progressive Jews are well documented. If you do not want to be amid a protest, be careful to plan your visit around Rosh Chodesh. Regardless, this is one of the most amazing places to visit. Even if you aren't religious, it is worth a visit.

Amazing to see thousands of fellow Jews going to the Western Wall at 0400 hrs. on Shavuot! A very moving experience when you consider Jews have been going to the temple mount for Shavuot for almost 3,000 years!

Walking where people have walked for thousand of years is unbelievable. Great shopping both new and old. Recommend entering at Jaffe gate.
