While I was in Jerusalem I decided to visit the Dead Sea. I got a bus from the Central Bus Station. You need to get an early bus be there before 8am. Return ticket is very cheap.
The trip costs approximately 1and a half hours. Ask the bus driver to let you off at the McDonnell's sign and walk over...

One of the world's most special places..as UNESCO knew long before..
Here in Israel we call it Massada.
You can climb up with a tram, or take the more challanging "snake trail"- a 2 km, 700 stairs hike. It's rought, but the jouney will make the view and history that awaites you up, will be even more stunning...

Masada in general is the place of the World Heritage site and Herod's Western Palace is a treasury of it. Hanged on the slope of the hill with wonderful location, beautiful wall paintings and floor decoration. Must be seen.

Highly recommend Masada (Herod's Palace Fortress). It's very hot in August. We were given the option of hiking up or paying to ride the cable car. Luckily we chose the cable car. I wore a ball cap & think it held the heat in too much & resulted in Heat Stroke later that day. This is an incredible place &...
