This is a well laid out site that focuses on mosaics and tells the story of life in an ancient city that was home to Jews, Christians, and Romans. Includes the famous "Mona Lisa" mosaic. Great for kids, watch the movie at the visitor center before starting to get a good overview. Walk through the water channel/cistern on the way... More

“Fabulous ruins and mosaics”

I love Roman ruins and this was one of my favorite sites in Israel. My guide really made the town come to life. Zippori is the site of the post Second Temple Jewish Settlement and the codification of the Mishna by Rabbi Yehudah Hanassi approximately 1800 years ago. Today it is a national park housing a beautifully reconstructed villa and the "Mona Lisa of the Galilee" mosaic floor. More
