Not worth the trip there. Confusing collection of statutes. Not well maintained area. Not up to expectations.

Wasn't all that impressed with the prices for tuk tuk, taxi or private bus we lucked into finding out about the number 14 bus from the local bus station near Talat Sao. Only 6000 kip each way per person - the bus ride was a definite interesting highlight in getting to Buddha Park. After the Friendship Bridge the road quality...

Once you have ran out from things to visit in Vientiane, the Buddha park is your only option outside the city. You will need around 30 minutes to get there, 30 minutes to walk along the park, take some pictures, and 30 minutes back.
Price wise, you'll need around 250,000 kip for the taxi. Tuk Tuks will cost you around...

The sign says it was finished in 1959, or something like that. It's not a historic site of any significance. It is totally weird and awesome to see, though. It's like Tim Burton's mind vomited up concrete statues of his dreams. This is worth the drive, the price of admission, and the tortuous climb through Dante's 'pomi-granite' to stand at...

While waiting for my Thai visa I rented a bicycle and took it along the Mekong River some 20km (in the roiling heat) to this cute little spot along the river and just past the Friendship Bridge to Thailand. Although I don't recommend this kind of bike ride for everyone, as it took me more than half a day to...

What a weird collection of cement-monuments. Slightly unkept as far as the various monuments as well as the park is concerned. The trip from Vientiane, a mere 28 kms out of town to the East, is gruesome - specially after the Friendship bridge. Must see = no; having time to kill = then yes. Or, as a fellow French tourist...

We took a tuk tuk to see this and it's a good hours drive. As you get to the park the road turns into a pot holed dirt track. This I diddn't mind as we are in Laos.
The park itself is vey poor with a few concrete buddahs dotted around a small field. None of the figures have any...

The Buddha Park is one of the most impressive places in Laos; the statues are incredible and even though it's not a huge place there is a lot to see (and many pictures to take!).
We can highly recommend to rent bicycles and cycle from Vientiane to the Park. It will take you around two hours each way but you...

Just got back and ended up with a 400,000 kip bill from the taxi. Had no idea taxis where so expensive here. Beware.

This place probably deserves more than 3 stars but from the way this place was described to me, I imagined it to be very different. I guess I expected it would be older and have a little more character to it. I definitely recommend that you take a trip there if you are in Vientiane for a few days, just...
