Otherwise known as "Lalbager Kella", This attracts A LOT of people every year. it is an incomplete Mughal Palace from the 1600s. Inside it, there lies the tomb of Pari Bibi (Fairy Lady). This is also where the native soldiers remained during the war against the British. There is a lot more history to this place than what meets the... More

the history of this fort...well, it isn't really a finished product. The fort holds back the city. Standing in this place you feel like you can stretch your arms again, but right over the walls the buildings of the city are laying siege. More

Lalbagh fort is the symbol of long tried moghul expansion into Bengal. The moghuls shifted capital from Sonargaon to Dhaka with fall of the then independent kings of Bengal. It is situated on the river Buriganga which is connected to both the Ganges and Meghna river system. Moghul choose this place probably because they need to be connected to the... More

Not very well preserved or restored. Access is congested, specially on weekdays. Being encroached by housing on three sides. It once housed a whole city of barracks inside. Propbably would have given a more genuine experience if the fountains and waterways were not lined blue bathroom tiles, of if they worked. Lalbagh Shahi Mosque is located inside, which dispenses the... More

There are some historical artifacts in the main building, but very little else of interest. The gardens are OK in some areas, and empty/unkempt in others. The ponds were all dry. The staff very strict about opening hours (don't arrive early) although friendly otherwise. More
