I spent 2 nights and half a day trawling for best buys here. Come in the morning where your bargaining power is greater. Day market closes at 6pm sharp and then the vendors starts setting up on the road outside.Take note that not all the stuff you find in the day can be found at night. Night market is more... More

The place was packed with vendors. The things they sell are repetition. When we are there... They are very aggressive, keep asking you to buy. Things arent cheap & some vendors are rude & impatient. However if u find anything u like, must haggle to the price u think u will pay. Some vendors are very firm with their pricing which... More

My wife and I have always been regulars at markets whenever we visit any country because that is where a country's culture thrives even with the passage of time. However, at the Ben Thanh Market things are so highly commercialised that very little of the cultural aspects remain other than being able to taste some local fruits and traditional Vietnamese... Ben Thanh Market is big and one can easily lost their track since every other stalls sell almost the same goods. A lot of the goods did not have a price tag, so you have to ask to get the price which makes me think that they charge according to how they perceived you. I know the prices have been... More

If you will be going to any other markets or shops anywhere in Asia you don't need to go here. I'd Reccomend leaving your cash at home and just go to look and once your sick of the arm pulling and BUY SOMETHING sales pitch just leave. Even if you do decide to buy something off these a""holes you will... More

Situated in the middle of the city, this market is open during the day and night. Shops inside the market are open during the day and stalls outside are erupt during the night. This place is for the hardcore bargainers. Others are recommended to stay away or not shop :) Get a price and start bargaining it from 20% of... More

Ben Thanh Market offers wide array of goods from local Vietnamese crafts, clothings, slippers, bags, foodstuff, etc. This is a must area to visit especially for tourists who do not have much time to go around. The real joy of shopping here is haggling over the price. Start at 50% of the price quoted by the seller. Most of the... More

This place is nuts. Stall holders near the doors are quite desperate for you to spend your money with them before you get too far in and can be quite grabby - hands in the pockets can help avoid that. So many stalls! There is some order to them, thankfully - which does help if you are looking for a... More

I went to Saigon on 26-29 April 2012 with my family. We booked our hotel at 190 Le Tanh Ton St which is just across the street from Ben Thanh market. Safe to say that we went there everyday and night and at the end of our trip we can memorized the exit door and which stall located at which... More
