The beach was quite, water was very warm. It's a nice beach to chill and relax, not much going on around the beach. The are sun beds and beach umbrella's for 200 Baht.

The beach was extremely dirty (there had been big swell recently); there are often rip tides here; it's very commercialised and busy; and we just weren't particularly impressed. We did like the very southern end of Karon beach though.

The beach itself is a long crescent - look out for the dragon monument roughly half way along, next to the inlet. Good choice of shops, bars, restaurants directly opposite the beach, as well as small cafe's on the beach itself. Took usual precaution of NOT going anywhere near the Jetski's - warned about being ripped off.

Karon beach is great for people watching but not really great for swimming with rips and heavy surf at times. Being charged 100 baht for using chairs and umbrellas on the beach is a tourist trap but the beach is very clean and the sand golden. Don't get me wrong, Karon Beach has white sand, clear waters, plenty of tropical fish to see with your snorkel gear, relatively clean, and the typical beach shops/markets along the "board walk."
