Lamai is a thriving shopping area with an abundance of goods on sale. Lots of eateries around including McDonalds and a great Ozzy style bar Bondai. Very touristy and has a narrow beach which is very tidal so care must be taken especially with children. More

Quiter than Chaweng, but pretty far. Here you will find nice restaurants and cliff top hotels. Not a bad place if you want to go relaxing. If you want to have fun, hit Chaweng! More

Nice and calm water, the female and male genital rocks are here. There's also a Rock Bar which is definitely interesting!!! (Rastaman style). Walk or "trekking" over rocks is good fun. Worth a short visit. More

Lamai is sleepy compared to Chaweng. The beach is comparable in stature but the establishments are more rustic. It's nice because the sand is soft but I prefer Choeng Mon or the ends of Chaweng... More

We spend our second evening in Samui at lamai Beach. We reached at around 4 pm. Spend the first 40 minutes to explore the restaurants/ bars & the market. It was around 5 that we walked up to the beach. Lamai is a nice beach. Decent water and not as coarse sand as in Bophut. its not as busy and... More

Unlike Chaweng, Lamai is much quieter and lined with resorts and restaurants. Life here is slower and you hardly see people walking around. It's quite far from chaweng so the noise doesn't come here. More

Great but small street market with loads of food and cheap but strong cocktails. Lamai is a bit too "Benidorm" for me but a night out at the market is worth it! More

Sure the beach is not super stunning like other parts of Samui nor it is super happening like Chaweng but if you are looking for something in between, this is the best. More laidback and quiet yet with great amenities at your doorstep. As one reviewer put it, there's a couple of food stalls near/next to Family mart next to... More
