Lamai is a thriving shopping area with an abundance of goods on sale. Lots of eateries around including McDonalds and a great Ozzy style bar Bondai.
Very touristy and has a narrow beach which is very tidal so care must be taken especially with children.

Quiter than Chaweng, but pretty far. Here you will find nice restaurants and cliff top hotels.
Not a bad place if you want to go relaxing.
If you want to have fun, hit Chaweng!

Nice and calm water, the female and male genital rocks are here. There's also a Rock Bar which is definitely interesting!!! (Rastaman style). Walk or "trekking" over rocks is good fun. Worth a short visit.

Make sure you visit the famous grandfather and grandmother rocks! Very unusuall and nothing else like this in the world.

Great but small street market with loads of food and cheap but strong cocktails. Lamai is a bit too "Benidorm" for me but a night out at the market is worth it!

Sure the beach is not super stunning like other parts of Samui nor it is super happening like Chaweng but if you are looking for something in between, this is the best. More laidback and quiet yet with great amenities at your doorstep. As one reviewer put it, there's a couple of food stalls near/next to Family mart next to...
