The insect museum is the private collection of a Thai couple, both of whom are entomologists, specialising in mosquitoes. It is a whimsical collection of not just insects but whatever curiosities have caught the owners’ fancy. Don't get me wrong, the displays they have are nice, and they have a few live insects/scorpions/spiders etc, but at 200baht this was one of the more expensive experiences I had. It's not particuarly large, and apart from looking at interesting specimens, I didn't really learn anything. The staff were very friendly and nice. More

Having just seen a couple of insect exhibits at major museums in the U.S., I was reminded that I should write a plug for the one in Chiang Mai. Museum of World Insects and Natural Wonders The museum has fascinating collection of domestic and foreign insects including animal fossils. We walked streets and suddenly we saw e insect museum. Okay, we will see what is it. It was very interesting place to see insects and butterflies and so. Children said that it was best in Chiang Mai. Absolutely worth of visiting. More

When we got to the museum, we thought it was closed as no one appeared to be there and it didn't seem to be much. However after ringing the doorbell the curator came and let us in. He was a really eccentric elderly man (given the name "Mosquito Man" in Thailand) who has spent 50 years building up his resources... More
