my husband and i had a great evening with Boom at her cooking school. As Manhattan Thai food lovers, we were shocked with how many dishes we got to make (we each made 6 different dishes for a total of 12 new dishes!!!)and how easy and fun they were. Class size is small (max people, and when we went we... More

This is a must to-do in Chiang Mai - you will not be disappointed. Boom was a wonderful hostess and teacher and made us feel totally at home in her kitchen. It was great to visit the market and buy the lovely fresh ingredients before we got done to business. It was nice to understand exactly what went into the... More

We took the day time course. Aside from being 20 minutes late in picking us up, the day was well run and very pleasant. The smaller class sizes (unlike some other cooking day we have attended) was great and Boom is an excellent educator. We were able to all pick something different in each of the categories, which is different... More

Boom was WONDERFUL both in communicating before the cooking class AND in teaching/adjusting to ANY need that you might have related to dietary restrictions. My husband and I took an evening course and we LOVED that we could each choose different menu selections and then taste each others concoctions. The kitchen is nice and clean and we enjoyed a class... More

Visited the Basil Thai Cookery school twice with my wife on our honeymoon and did not regret a moment of it. I am a reasonable cook and my wife is a novice with a fear of the kitchen. After spending those two sessions with Boom, we had both gained confidence in the kitchen, learnt about Thai ingredients and had eaten... More

The rest of the reviews pretty much sum it all up perfectly so I won't go over it all again. My wife and I did the eveining class on a day which Boom was unable to attend (though she did pick us up and take us to the market). It was Mae who took the course and she was excellent... More

Boom's cookery course was one of the highlights of our trip to Thailand! The afternoon started with a trip to the market, where Boom told us about the different ingredients we would be using, as well as what replacements we could use at home if we couldn't get hold of the Thai ingredients, which was really helpful. The class itself... More

I took a cooking class with Basil over a year ago now and it is still the first thing I recommend to anyone I know who is going to be in the Chiang Mai area. The cooking class was a incredible experience from start to finish. I loved walking through a local market to pick out my ingredients before the... More

Boom is the girl who runs this cookery school. She picks you up from hotel and gives you a menu to choose 6 diferent plates. Then she takes you to the market where you buy the material to work, and explains vegetables and tipical thai stuff. She takes you to her kitchen in a very nice chiang mai neighbourhood where... Basil cookery school is a definitelly a must in chiang mai. Boom, the teacher, is great, she explains all Thai vegetables on the market, than at home, she prepares station for each pupil. Everybody knows what to do wihout any confusion. The great advantage of this school are the small classes, max 7 people. This makes the atmosphere more family-like.... More
