The entrance fee is cheap but then you get charged for pretty much everything else: the pandas, aquarium, snow dome and transport. The exhibits are pretty small. The aquarium was expensive and cool. Most everything else was terrifying. The sea otter had no water in his cement cell. He was literally crying and pleading to get out of his paddock. The good things about Chiang Mai Zoo are the aquarium and the gigantic outdoor area for birds. If those two can be good, maybe there's hope for the mermals. The conditions for them were horrible. Great value for money. The nominal entrance fee is increased for non Thais but this is very common throughout Thailand. Inside you can walk around but the zoo covers a considerable area and beware of some very steep hills! (or take the tram).
