I'd recommend anyone visiting Bangkok to visit the Vimanmek Mansion. If you like history and understanding the culture of the places you visit, this will help you better understand Thailand. It's filled with antiquities and photographs of the past. Wear long pants or be ready to put on some "loaner" pants before you enter. This only shows proper respect for... More

Nice old house made out of teak, some nice old furniture inside. You have to wear long pants if you are a man or a dress which covers your shoulders and knees as a woman. You also have to leave all your belongings in a locker and take your shoes off. No photos inside allowed. The entry to Grand Palace... More

Go the Grand Place in the morning and they will give you a free coupon to see the Teak Palace. However, I have heard you have to ask for the coupon sometimes. I have been to the Vimanmek Mansion three times and I enjoyed each visit. The tours are well done, though the Thai accents may be a bit thick... More

I went to the Vimanmek mansion because buying the ticket to access to the Great Palace they give you the entry for free. I tuck a taxi from Khaosan rd to there(approx $50bath), there's free guided tours in English (11am and 2pm), I totally recommend to go on a tour, the guide answer all my questions. A bit short what... More

Get ready for tourist city. This place is crawling with tourists, mostly Chinese bus tours as has been noted by others. It was confusing to find the main ticket office as we walked in through the back from the direction of the Throne Hall. After wandering about we found an ugly modern building blocking the view of the main teak... More
