Taking the maokong cable was awesome! cheaper compared to Sg's jewel in the box and the fact that it takes longer rides. On top, one can enjoy the luxury of sipping a hot tea or fruit tea while taking a pastry overlooking the city of taipei. Taipei 101 is clearly visible if clouds aren't thick.

The scenery from the cable car is nice and peaceful. Great to spend the evening in one of the tea houses located near the cable car station to see the beautiful sunset. Definitely a very good place to escape from the bustle and hustle of the city. We spent about SGD$35 for 2 pax on just tea alone. Teahouses there... More

theres a really good sausage stall on after turning left after exiting the mao kong station; street stall on the right. spent two days chilling at the maokong cat cafe. many teahouses line the roads. good for watching the sunset and enjoying the night view thereafter

We five took the cable car up MoaoKong Mountain. It said it’s one of the longest rides on cable car in the world. Not sure about it, but it’s LONG in deed. Ride on the car with see-through thick glass on the bottom (crystal cabin?), is a thrill. No extra cost though, just have to wait- only one in 5... More

Unpredictable weather so bring umbrella or coats. There is a tea house in the area which is very good.

A not to be missed experience from the gondola ride to the views to the many tea houses. There's a lot of tourists but it doesn't diminish the charms of the area. Take your time and settle in to a tea house with a view.

A very long gandola ride. Went early hence, the queue for the crystal cabin wasn't very long but the number of crystal cabins are not that much, so you'll have to wait for some time. Took the gandola up and the bus down at NT15 only and was very fast. You can take the bus to the Tea Promotional Centre... More

It was closed when I went there (13.05.13). When I asked a guy there he pointed to a sign that said construction work from 13.05.13 to 31.5.13. Was looking forward to it too, the glass bottom and the teahouses on the mountain. Oh well.

I found the Cable Car ride up Maokong Mountain well worth the money and time. Tickets cost NT$50 and you can pay using your Taiwan Easycard which you use to ride the metro and buses anyway. You just flash your Easycard at the gate to get admission and soon you are on board. This is very good value and possibly... More
