This old Forteress have been the symbole of the colonial periode of the island. Some time ago its was used to hold concerts where some of the most popular artists have performed.
Now a days it still symbolise some sort of power thought it have never seen any battle. Still it remains a unique historical building in the region.

It's a bit difficult to get there, small road difficult to spot. It's a bit dangerous, specially if very late at night....
Best is to take a taxi or go with someone you trust who's used to the place. However, the view of the city is spectacular and very beautiful at night, you see the whole capital and the neighboring...

A good view over Port Louis and the land recovered from the sea. Interesting history from the English period of Mauritius.

We decided to walk to the Citadel for the views on a Sunday afternoon. The steps leading from the access road where broken and the area did not look inviting, with broken glass, rubble and rubbish lying around. Reaching the top we found the Citadel to be closed. There was a gentleman however who could open the gate for 100...

you must visit this place for the breathtaking view of port louis.its simply amazing.the fort is not so impressive but i would suggest that you should go there for nothing but the view.the hills are on one side and the sea on the other.INCREDIBLE !!
