I was surprised that this drive was rated so low on TripAdvisor. We drove this road after visiting the Punchbowl and were amazed at how beautiful this road is. And what a payoff at the end. Round top drive takes you to the top of Mount Tantalus. The views are great especially during sunset. The view in Puu Ualakaa State Park is the best and is located about halfway around the 9 miles loop. You have a terrific view of Diamond Head, the city, and the west side. We stumbled upon Tantalus/Round Trop drive after visiting with a local at the top of Diamond Head. We had asked him about a good place to catch a sunset and he sent us to Tantalus.
