The tour is AWESOME! Juan will take you out to his 'farm' land. Where you will walk under the canopy of trees learning as much... More

A visit to Cyrila's chocolate should be on the top of any visitor to southern Belize! The organic cacao farm tour is inspirational and outstanding. Couple that with the opportunity to make your own chocolate on a matate the way the ancient Maya did and you have the perfect day in paradise. Juan, Abelina and their children are warm, welcoming... Lovely family, very knowledgable, generous with their time and hospitality. It was also easy to visit them, they offer great directions and will come pick you up. You've never seen such beautiful, healthy trees!!! Our favorite meal in 2 months travelling in central america. ...and I think the best chocolate I've ever had. wonderful. More

Take the tour of the plantation. Have lunch, and enjoy Juan's presentation on making chocolate the traditional way. Not a minute of your time will be wasted and you'll be getting a look at the future of Belize. Juan is the Thomas Jefferson of Belize, and if more of his neighbors learn to listen to him and follow his lead... More

To learn about sustainable chocolate making, see heritage chocolate trees, to be able to use a traditional grinding stone, drink our fresh chocolate drink, bring home our handmade chocolates and eat amazing chocolate chicken. Learning about Maya traditional practices and beliefs was educational.Watch out for mosquitos and the jaguar prints I saw under the chocolate trees More
