Our group almost didn't go to the Butterfly Ranch. We were traveling with five young children who were tired and cranky and wanted to go back to our lodge to swim in the river. I am so so glad we didn't miss this! Green Hills is absolutely enchanting, and the kids and adults alike were thrilled to be there. It... More

We were lucky enough to experience the lovely Green Hills Butterfly Ranch with a great group of fellow travelers and Sharyn from Mariposa Jungle Lodge. Beautiful butterflies are everywhere and the owners are so easygoing and informative. We would not have wanted to miss this. More

driving the back roads of Belize, one occasionally hits upon an unexpected bonus...the Butterfly Ranch is one of those...a personally guided tour by the owners through the large butterfly enclosure and the detailed explanation of how the butterfly goes throught its stages is the best way to spend a couple of hours, photographing and just sitting with the residents of... We have never been to a butterfly farm before. They do a wonderful job of presenting the butterflies and showing all stages of their life cycle. It was a new experience. So many different species and colors. The farm is such a good place to watch and photograph the hummingbirds. With patience I did get several really good photo's with... More

They are EVERYWHERE!! The sound of them fluttering around is so crazy and it's just so amazing to see them all around you. The woman who showed us around was very patient with my picture taking and even showed us all the various stages of growth. It seems like the tour would only take 30 minutes or so, but I... More

What a super little stop. We were leading a college student group, but rather than being bored they were fascinated with the butterflies, excited when they got hitchhikers, and snapping away with their cameras while asking our guide plenty of questions. They also just loved the hummingbird feeders, which had attracted seven different species the day that we visited and... More

Our birding guide made arrangements for an after-hours visit to Green Hills on the way back from Caracol to DuPlooys. Tineke, one of the owners, gave us a tour through the butterfly enclosure. Some of the species had already settled in for the night so we didn't have as good a looks at them as we did at the species... More

Just a kilometer from the T intersection of the Georgeville and Pine Ridge Roads, the Green Hills Butterfly Ranch is the perfect stop for everyone planning a visit to Barton Creek, Mountain Esquestian Center or on their way to Five Sisters, Rio on the Ponds or Caracol. Take a break from the rough road ride and relax for an hour... More
