Great for a break from the sun and it's free to!!! You learn a lot about the Island's history and spanish explorers, one of children even did a report on it for his school project one year. And they have the old jail that is a great photo op!!! More

Not much to it, but it's a cute little place when strolling around Pine Ave doing some shopping. We love any historical sites, so this is right up our alley. Worth a quick stop when you're in the area. More

The AMI Historical Museum is right on Pine Avenue where the Island of Anna Maria was first settled by the homesteading family of Bean. The museum traces the island's growth from a tiny farming/fishing community into a serene tropical paradise where a Hollywood movie was filmed, baseball players came for spring practice and snowbirds loved their visits so much, they... A lovely little museum with volunteer docents dedicated to the history of Anna Maria Island. Ask to see the Bellfleur Cottage, really facinating. The price is right: FREE! (Although donations are welcome, and we made one.) So nice to see a group dedicated to keeping history alive. More

This is a two room small house like museum on Pine Street at the north end of the island. A great job has been made of documenting the early days of the island and collecting artifacts. Lots of pictures of early structures, etc. and an enjoyable learning experience. No cost....donation if you like. Helps give you some sense of the... More

Somebody pinch me. Why did we go here? We walked in here expecting a museum. This is nothing more than some seniors sitting around shooting the bull and some broken down old boat with an old outboard motor missing parts and a house and a jail building that they don't seem to have enough money to restore. <YAWN> Don't waste... We've vacationed on Anna Maria Island for a number of years, but we walked right by this little museum every year. This year, we were strolling by and stopped in, and we're definitely glad we did. The museum has several rooms, exhibiting the cultural and economic history of the island. The museum guides were quick to answer questions and supplement... More
