This was a beautiful drive although scary at times the top was covered in snow. It was well worth the drive. More

This is one of Colorado's most beautiful and scenic mountain passes. I love going over the top and and stopping to hike up to the Continental Divide. It is not for the faint of heart as it is windy and steep. However, you will never forget the experience. Only open in the summer months! More

We just went over the pass. It had snowed (in May) and so everything was white and clean. Things to see on the driver would be the grottos outside Aspen as well as the top of the pass. A classic drive highly recommended. You might also consider driving down to Twin Lakes to see Mt. Massive, Mt. Elbert and La... More

We were fortunate enough to be able to take Independence Pass to Aspen. It usually isn't open this early in the season. It was a beautiful drive. More

This was an absolutely amazing trip through the mountains!!! It was the best part of our vacation-hands down. It was not super tourist-y and we were able to get some amazing pictures. I would recommend stopping along the way to take it all in and explore a little. We were absolutely blown away at the sites we saw on this... More

Every American driver must drive this road at least once in their lives. The Switchbacks, the straightaways and the summit vista of Aspen/Snowmass is incredible! More

One of my favorite scenic drives in Colorado. Stunning views starting just outside of Aspen reaching pure heaven at Independence Pass at 13,000 ft. . Air is in short supply at the top so take it easy. The westbound drive is not for the faint of heart due to the lack of guardrails at many spots (leaving little room for... More

It was a real challenge to drive the highest paved road in this country. Some parts of the road did not have guardrails and there were some sections, which were just wide enough for 1 car. Scary at that time but sure glad I drove the Independence pass. More
