I love Aspen Highlands. It's the locals mountain in Aspen. Hiking Highland Bowl is the closest you'll come to a full on back country experience...while still in bounds.

We skiied here late season April 2013 - compared to Aspen & Snowmass there was lots of slush, and was never quiet as sunny as Aspen. Still had some lovely runs and would return.
fun and challenging, just pack a lunch or bring tons of cash because the restaurants aren't shy to charge $10 for a hot dog or $13-14 for a burger
Probably the least crowded mountain in Aspen despite all of the home development nearby. Very good skiing with some slower lifts. No gondola. When the snow is good and the crowds are at Snowmass or Ajax it is a true pleasure. I am not an expert so I don't ski the Bowl, but undoubtedly that is a major attraction for...

This is my favourite of the four mountains in Aspen/Snowmass. The slopes are quieter, better maintained and generally more challenging. When the sun sines, Highlands is just beautiful - nothing better than soaking up the sun and scenery with an outdoor lunch at the mid-mountain "Merry Go Round" restaurant.
Old school resort with great expert terrain, good food, the best views in the area, and fewer crowds that its neighbors. Experts should hike into Highlands Bowl for a real challenge.
Loved highlands. Great snow. Fantastic runs. Hiked the bowl. A must do. Followed by champagne and a fantastic meal at cloud 9. Wonderful!
Whether it be the world class bowls, or the great terrain from the summit on down, Aspen Highlands has a great variety of runs. Though certainly not a beginner mountain, it's an awesome intermediate and expert mountain.
Today we had a foot of fresh powder and it snowed all day, so we missed the legendary views of the Maroon Bells...

The best skiing in Aspen - the bowl could not be more beautiful and fun! The mountain is the perfect size - not crowded, lots of locals, great lessons for kids at intermediate to expert level - fabulous ski teachers at ski school
Loved the runs here - great day out. Also has some more difficult slopes so good for mixed groups. Good restaurants at the base. No gondola, just lifts so better on a clear, sunny day.
