As with most beaches in Humboldt, this one is clean and the nature surrounds and envelops you. The vehicle-access point has been closed for some time, so no more nasty diesel smell to deal with, and dogs can roam free. Bonus: The beach also includes a number of intermediate Geocaches. More

Moonstone Beach or Trinidad State Beach in Trinidad, CA, both just a few minutes away, are much better options. Clam Beach is flat, windswept and uninteresting. It has over night camping, which is the only reason to go there. More

Dealing with the "campers" can sometimes be interesting. The beach is usually pretty clean. Never had any real issues here More

Having grown up in southern California, it always amazes me to visit this beach and see the long reach of sand and water in both directions that most days are deserted. People come here to ride their horses on the beach or run their dogs. There used to be an annual sand castle event here, which was fun and entertaining.... More

Clam Beach has some camping areas and a place where you can drive onto the beach. However there's a giant hole filled with water you have to drive through to get to the beach which is only manageable by jeeps or 4Wd with Giant tires. If you park at the parking lot the 'camp host' will run out of his... More

A flat, long beach with gentle surf. You can walk for miles. Very good for kids, dogs, riding horses. More

It is so much fun watching the kite boarders jump and ride waves as they are propelled by the wind. Clam Beach has miles and miles of untouched sand to walk along. If you love to kite board or wind surf clam beach is a world class spot when the wind is perfect. Best time is spring and early summer.... More
