There are some very pretty parts of Georgetown, although you pretty much have ot know about it yourself. Unfortunately, the place is dominated by the main drag (Wisconsin Avenue) which includes a lot of high-end shops, expensive restaurants and many sketchy individuals littering the streets. One of my top ten places to be in DC; lots of great shopping, good food, and people watching. Stroll off M Street down beautiful tree-lined side streets and enjoy the architectural mix of beautiful old homes where many of Washington's more prominent movers and shakers reside. Don't miss Dumbarton Oaks and Georgetown University!

The two main streets are M St. and Wisconsin Ave. Years ago, the shopping was unique; today most of the stores are chains that are found in malls around the country. If the crowds get to you, just walk north (uphill) a couple...
