Very cool to finally get to visit this memorial. One nice thing about it is that since it's outside the gates of Arlington National Cemetery, you can still visit this memorial even when the Cemetery is closed. More

We visited this memorial during a night tour of Washington. This was one of my favorite Memorials in town. It is just beautiful. More

Near to Ft. Myer and Rosslyn in Arlington, the Marine Corps Memorial is the true standout among all of the service memorials. The story from which the design is well-known and does not need to be repeated here. The actual sculpture, however, is highly detailed and worth a visit to examine. The surrounding inscriptions of signature Marine engagements - including... More

My Daddy was a marine and I had seen photos of this memorial all my life. It was so cool to see it in person. More

My sister is a professional artist, and after watching the work that goes into her pieces, I can truly appreciate the detail and time put into this memorial! The "men" are so lifelike and I couldn't help but imagine if I were there, too. A befitting dedication indeed! More

A suitable memorial to the thousands of Marines, corpsman and sailors who gave their all to take the island and secure it as a stronghold for our flights on to Japan. Having been to Iwo jima twice I doubly appreciate the heroic efforts that went into raising the flag on Mt. Suribachi albeit early in the battle and much more... More

Moving historical moment captured in huge, impressive sculpture. A great place for photo ops. Take a stroll heading south towards the Netherlands Carillon -- if your timing is right, you can enjoy the sound of bells playing patriotic tunes -- and enjoy one of the very best views of DC from a lovely hill spot (great for a picnic, too!). I have seen pictures and finally got to see it up close. It is a fair way away from the metro at the cemetary but is well worth the walk. It is also pleasant walking through the cemetary up to the Kennedys. More
