But that's it. There are some places to eat but nothing that really stands out. I was unable to go to the top to see the view because it was closed off for some reason so I cannot speak as to the activities/view up there.

The Old post Office is a place you should see if you have the time. It gives you an absolutely fantatstic 360 degree view of the entire DC area. It's not too camera friendly, as there are slender safety bars preventing a good camera shot. But it's a really wonderful view, and it's free. Not very long a wait to... More

Going to the top of the Pavilion Tower is, like so much else in DC, free. Tourist trap for lunch and shopping. But that is not a bad thing if you have kids. Donald Trump will be converting the office spaces into a luxury hotel, but the tower will remain in the control of the US Parks Dept.

Nothing is in there. The places to eat are crappy. They really need to upgrade or do something. Not a place recommended to go unless you just want to see the shell of the old post office pavilion.

This hidden gem managed by The National Park Service offers a free view from 270 feet high of the Washington DC area from the Old Post Office Building tower. On a clear day you see up to 12 miles from the tower in all directions. You overlook the White House and can see the Capitol, Supreme Court Building, Arlington Cemetery,... More

The views from the top of the Post Office tower are very nice, and certainly with the Washington Monument currently covered by scaffolding they are probably the best views in the city centre. But this experience was a real let-down - the only disappointing attraction I visited on a recent 4 day stay in DC. Firstly, the security staff were... More

Seems some folks ran into rude staff when entering the building. Yes, NO MATTER where you go, this will happen with the folks who run security, look no further than the TSA when you travel. So, just get past it. The interior is not what I would call dirty, but reflects an historically preserved old building that has been saved.... More

We took an elevator to the top of the tower and you had the birds eye view. We walked down the twisty steps to see the bells. During our self guided tour we talked to wonderful staff person who indicated Donald Trump had purchased the building and was going to make a hotel out of it, however the tower would... More

Big mistake if this is not on your list of MUST visits in DC. The view is unequal (esp since Wash Monument closed). On a clear day - can see for 12 miles. Look to the right or left of where you stand & there's a photo provided to detail what you are seeing. Also housed here are The Bells... More

PROS: beautiful old structure, especially the exterior architectural details; free; food court and small kitschy stores inside; different view of the city;opens early (9am). CONS: can be crowded (we had about 20 boy scouts that were up at the tower with us at 9 in the morning!); wire bars on the viewing deck impedes views or photos; smudges on the... More
