If you like portraits it is a great place to visit. Our hotel was right across the street so it was a good place to visit last because they stay open till 7pm and evryone else close at 5:30 pm.

This, along with the National Building Museum, is my new favorite museum in DC. The information cards with the paintings are well written, informative and a little tongue-in-cheek sometimes. Well worth it and free!

A very nice museum to relax and stroll. The President's portrait gallery was fascinating. There are some very good paintings along with a summary of each President's career. While several were exceptional, many seemed to be very ordinary people.

Be sure to find the buffalo skin and sit and admire the Thomas Moran Yellow Stone paintings. Youl'll be amazed at the site, and the buffallo hide makes you feel like a native american.

We marched our tired feet here because I had heard the Kogod Courtyard was worth seeing. The Courtyard was fine and nice, but not entirely worth the trek. The Presidential Portraits are definitely worth seeing. This wouldn't be first on my list if this is your first visit to WDC, though. Go up to the 3rd floor to the Great Hall to see some fantastic architectural detailing.

This museum is an eclectic collection of paintings, sculpture, and other objects in a combined building (Smithsonian American Art Museum). The art work is spectacular.
