One of the top things to see in DC is the Vietnam Veterans Memorial! I found one of my brother's best friend who had died during The Vietnam War. Several directories are furnished that help you go to the right section of the wall and find a name. It also helps if you know about the correct year the veteran... More

Unless you are to young to remember the Vietnam War, you will get cold chills when you visit. Having lost several friends to the war, I specifically looked for their names. It was bittersweet to find them. Proud that they serviced their country, but sad that they lost their lives. Seeing the memorial gave me a sense of closure. It... More

I think most of us have seen the images of "The Wall" over the years with various things left there by friends and family of the fallen. It was the most emotional experience I have had in a long time. It's overwhelming to see all the names on the black granite, they seem to go on forever. After you get... More

A brilliant depiction of the utter waste of war, in a somber but beautiful presentation. More

my generation; my fallen friends; the momentos of life (and then death); all represented not just by the ebony stone but the etched names and ranks....and by the envelope of silence despite the crowd reaching out to touch the letters. More

At first I thought "Wow, just a wall, huh. Great." I had no personal connection to the Vietnam War, being too young and not having any family participate. However, when you get there and see the flowers and read the notes people have left, it really is touching. Walking around you can often see Vietnam vets visiting the Memorial themselves,... More

Nice but somewhat subdued in comparison to the other monuments. To get a real feel for the magnitude, go down into the memorial and lean toward the wall at an angle (viewing down the length - pararell to the ground)...the view of the shear number of names is astonishing....its something you don't get looking straight on at the wall.
