We watched the movie Lincoln the night before visitiing. This man was a great man in our history and it is humbling to stand in this place.

How can someone not be inspired upon walking up to this memorial and standing within the confines of the building? Read the inscriptions. Sense the awe and inspiration that comes from being just remotely attached to this amazing man. Being here is a highlight of any visit to DC. it is truly a must-see.
So moving. Everything on the National Mall is so big, and so beautiful. Parents need to remind their children when inside this is a MEMORIAL and not a playground. The history of this monument and all the others are so moving and educational.
It's a lovely walk from the Washington Monument to the Lincoln Memorial - not too far. When you climb the steps of the Lincoln Memorial you can see where you walked and the area - the long stretch of the reflecting pool- it's just gorgeous. I just read where someone said it's a long walk from the Washington Monument to...

I find this to be the most moving monument -- the inscription on the wall is inspiring. The monument itself has strength, grace and beauty. This is my all time favorite. I leave with a feeling of great national pride.
This monument is a must-see on anyone's visit to Washington. The Gettysburg Address inscribed in the wall of the monument is amazing.

Like other reviewers, it takes a LONG time to walk down to this if you're coming from the Washington Monument; I'd say a good 30 minutes if you're taking a leisurely stroll like I was. Much bigger than expected once you actually get up to the top; fairly easy to get to, and near some parks and refreshment areas. Nice to sit around the side and relax for a break.
This has got to be one of the most amazing sites in the United States. It is so surreal standing in front of the Lincoln Memorial staring down towards the reflecting pool and Washington Monument. Lincoln's statue is more majestic and larger than you think. It was truly breathtaking.
