It's THAT beautiful. Was there in August of 2010. I'm going to go back. So many different flowers blooming, clear lakes, mountain vistas - it's the most beautiful place I have ever seen. Go! you won't be sorry. Next time I go, I am going to stay in Red Lodge, MT right at the beginning of the route and stay... More

If you love getting out and experiencing the twists and turns of the mountains this is the road for you. Huge elevation changes, in a short distance. The road rises from 5,000' to 11,000' and back down in about 30 miles. Never more than a few hundred yards in a straight line. Starting at the bottom it was 90 degrees... More

The Beartooth Pass Scenic Road is one in a million. Starting out in Red Lodge the road climbs up a rather dry rugged valley before switchbacking up steeply thousands of feet to the Beartooth Pass. Patience and attention is essential as you drive this demanding Road. On the top of the pass the views are to die for, an alpine... More

A lady in Cooke City told us this had been the worst winter for snow she had ever seen and she had lived near Cooke City for thirty years. We can believe it after what we saw getting up and through the Beartooth Pass June 12, 2011, about a week or so after it was finally opened. Like the previous... More

A hotel owner in Montana told me that the Beartooth Pass is a "must do" if you come to the area. He was so right. It is absolutely beautiful! We drove from Red Lodge, MT to Cody, WY via of the Beartooth Pass. This route doesn't go the full length of the pass, but what we saw was great! To... More

Traveled this road in early September from Three Forks Montana to Red Lodge while on vacation. We were advised to travel this pass by a local in Three Forks (Rodger) at Broken Spur Motel. Boy was he right! We were not prepared for what we saw. Words cannot express it. Highly recommend if you are ever near this road, definitely... More

Would we do... More

Absolutely one of the the most memorable drives one would have in their lifetime! We drove this the end of June and the weather the day before was 102 as we drove into Billings. The next day at the top altitude of the Beartooth Pass we were at 40 degrees, pulling our sweatshirts out of the trunk. From glacier lakes,... More
