Bodie is by far the best ghost town in all the west....hundreds of buildings in a state of "arrested decay" they pacth the roofs and such with old time roofing materials to keep em from caving in and getting damaged from teh 17 feet of snow they recieve in winter! there is NO FOOD or drinks so bring your own... Unlike many 'Ghost Town's' in the US, Bodie is the real thing. A total lack of 'Disneyfication', just the old abandoned buildings and a sense of real isolation and desolation. The long bumpy road to the ghost town of Bodie is well worth the trip. The town emerges as scattered wooden buildings surrounded by lush green grass and a herd of steer munching contentedly.
