My family & I took the train from Anchorage to Seward. We stayed in Seward for a few days and did lot`s of interesting tours and we got to see whales and lot`s of wildlife which was one of our highlights. The views from the train windows were just so breathtaking and to see so much snow all around us... More

We took the train to Seward for a whale watching tour. The service on the train was excellent The tour guide pointed out wildlife and points of interest along the way. The dining car has full service menu and the food was wonderful. Prices are reasonable for meals. View is breathtaking. More

What a thrill to ride the train up to Hurricane Gulch and back! We rode smoothly and almost silently through the snow, viewing frozen rivers, flocked trees, ghost frost, secluded cabins. The vast snow-capped mountains were more than awesome. As a flag train, we stopped to pick up passengers waiting in deep snow.....even stopped while a moose got off the... More

The 2nd week of our 2 week tour was on the train. Comfortable, glass roofs so you don't miss seeing things in the wilderness that you wouldn't see otherwise. Food on board the train was wonderful. We saw Moose, lots of them, wolves on the other side of a river, it was great & even taking pictures from the train... More

We took the Aurora Winter Rail from Anchorage to Fairbanks. There was never a dull moment on our 12 hour trip. We were able to see so much beautiful scenery along the way and were lucky enough to see lots of wildlife (moose, Dall sheep, and caribou). The winter was a particularly gorgeous time with all of the snow and... More

Visiting Alaska for the first time? Have a limited amount of time? Take the train from Anchorage to Denali. Go first class! The comfort, the view, the service is worth every penny! Stay at one of the hotels near the park entrance unless you have extra time on your hands. Take the Kantishna Wilderness Trails bus tour. It is all... More

I ahve enjoyed each trip with my family going and coming. It is a treat to sit in the doom cars and check out how great this state is and the last frontier. Have not seen any wildlife to write about but the view is wonderful. The train dinner is very good, but not cheap; or they have a good snack... More

We took the Alaska Railroad winter train from Anchorage to Fairbanks on February 17. The day was uncharacteristically clear, and I was absolutely astounded at the scenery. I've heard that it's a beautiful trip in the summer, but I find it hard to believe it could outdo the winter scenery. The train itself is very comfortable--not like airline seats--lots of... More
