Do not pass an opportunity to go out with the mail boat and see this awesome area. We saw a pod of dusky dolphins and a hector dolphin which is the rarest and smallest of all dolphins and the mailman stopped for quite awhile so we could enjoy. More

We were fortunate enough to have a few days available and rented a boat on the sounds. They were absolutely fantasticwith loads of small fiord like sounds to explore and plenty of small isolated sites to moor. As we were out of season we were virtually alone for much of the time. We could have easily spent longer there. More

Tramped the Queen Charlotte Track over 5 days, having a rest day at Portage and fished on the Kenepuru sounds. Everything so easy to organise. Packed lunches every day and only need a day pack as suitcases are taken to each stayover night. More

Highfield Winery one of the better ones, has a view tower for great photos of the area. Hunter's Winery is the oldest (1979) winery and had won 200+ awards for their superb wines. More

the scenery was just breathtaking, each corner you turned there were more wonderful views. We attempted the road to French pass and we have some wonderful photos from there, however as someone with a fear of heights, I did find it a bit overwhelming. We turned back before reaching French Pass itself as it was getting late - I think... More
