This was the fourth time I was swimming with dolphins, whales, seals, etc. After we were fitted with thick wetsuits we had an extensive briefing of the many types of dolpins ever been seen in the Marlborough sound. It is unlikely that on a very succesful trip you would see more than two types. After cruising for an hour we... More

We decided t take this tour and try to swim with the dolphins. When you decide to do this there are generally only three outcomes 1) you don't see any 2) you see them but they are on their way to eat 3) they have eaten. 3) is the best as they swim slow and will stop and play with... More

Enjoyable afternoon out on the sound. We were looked after by Glen and Larissa who were informative, and endeavoured to engaged us all in the sights (and sounds) ... of Marlborough Sound and the above Island. We saw the seals at the salmon farm; saw several dolphins and a blue penguin? ( not expected). Raced the ferry from Wellington back... More

We went on the Best if the Sounds Tour with two children aged 3 and 5. The boat was clean, comfortable and well equipped and the staff were fantastic ( we dealt with a number of staff - Tash via email, Captain John and Pirate Pete on board, and two other people in the office. All were very welcoming and... More

We went out this morning for the dolphin swim and ha a wonderful time! After about 45 minutes we located a big pod of dolphins and got four chances to swim with them! Even though thy we're more intent on finding food than playing with us, it was an incredible experience. They are HUGE an came within just a few... More

I have done the island trip twice over the last five years. The first I took an exchange student and loved it so much we went back on our honeymoon. We saw seals , rare birds and had very informative discussions. It seemed three dolphins were hiding but on the way back a pod suddenly appeared. The crew stayed an... More

Where do I start. Lets go with the staff, fantastic right through from the office to the crew on board the boat. Very, very friendly & informative. The trip, we obviously hoped to see Dolphins, that was the purpose of the exercise, but when we came across a Pod of Orca's, it was like Christmas and birthdays rolled into one.... More

Had an amazing afternoon which became the highlight of our trip to New Zealand. Not only did we see bottlenosed and rare hector dolphins but we saw seals, gannets, penguins, parakeets and black robins etc. Seeing the orca whales swimming round our boat so happy and free so different from the visitor attraction marine places was a real privilege. The... More

We went to Motuara Island with 15 other passengers and a a crew of 2. The guide was excellent and the captain very accommodating. We saw a large number of birds on the water as well as seals and one dolphin. The dolphins were not around the day we went out to the island. At the island we walked around... More

I took the half day Motuara Island Cruise. The trip was one of the top highlights of my trip to New Zealand. You could tell immediately that it was going to be a fun trip. The guides were fantastic. They were very knowledgeable of the area and it's wildlife. The boat was a good size for the number of people... More
