With solitary cells and gallows Fremantle Prison is a monument to a system of punishment that is uncomfortably recent. Fremantle Prison now holds the key to history, mystery and fun. Step inside and do time with experienced guides on a fascinating Prison Day Tour. Explore the labyrinth of tunnels 20m beneath the Prison by foot and by boat on a Tunnels Tour adventure. This tour was way better than I expected, probably due to our guides talent for storytelling. My ten year old son enjoyed it immensely. I would highly recommend this tour, very interesting and its great that it has been maintained to preserve the history of the era.

Great place to visit - the tour guides know their stuff and the gift shop is better than most. Don't think the tour is suitable for young children.

The Fremantle prison lives up to its reputation -- it is really worthwhile to go there! We took the "Tunnel tour", which involves climbing down a shaft, squatting in tunnels, boat-ridning through the tunnels, etc. Very interesting history, good and knowledgable guide (and funny -- you made our day, Tristan!). All in all -- an excellent museum experience.

We hadn't planned on touring Fremantle Prison, but our plans had fallen through due to rain, and we had driven past the prison and thought we'd give it a go. We arrived just a bit late for the first tour, but they kindly led us to the group and let us join. All the staff we met were so lovely... More

I really enjoyed this tour of Fremantle Prison. The tour guide gave a very informative tour of the whole prison including death row and the gallows. I have been to Alcatraz Prison in San Francisco and the Fremantle Prison was just as interesting and probably a better more informative tour. This is a must do when you are visiting Perth... More

We had a great tour, I wish we had more time - the tunnel experience looks fantastic. There is a lot to take in. If you don't have the time or your budget doesn't extend to the tour (although they are well worth it!) then there are some free attractions, museums and a gallery to view. We regretted not getting... More

I have been here several times, both with school groups and family. A must to visit for overseas visitors if they want to learn about early Australia although you should be prepared for this discomforting experience.

When in Fremantle, a top sight to see is the prison. Taking a guided tour of the area, you can hear the various stories of escape and imprisonment which gives the place an even more erie feeling - especially death row! Just a tip - just buy a ticket for the daring escapes tour and not the package tour as... More

We went along to the torchlight tour in a group of about 12, from the moment we went into the 1st room they already had me on edge, you walk through many parts of the prison being told many interesting stories about it's past. I found it all very interesting and our tour guide was excellent which I think definitely... More

What a treasure this place is. A pouring wet, blowing a gale type night enhanced by the story telling guide Brandon was an enjoyable insight into life in the prison system in Freo. I dont know why the Council or the powers that be cant put a light on to the parking ticket machine out the front. Its a game... More
