this is a good museum with lots of local information, however i don't know if it is just because I'm a local or not, but it just doesn't present well compared to the Sydney maritime museum. friendly and knowledgeable staff will keep you entertained, and informed. but the whole display format needs rejigging to freshen it up. This is well worth an hour or two. The exhibits tell the surprising history of the many Europeans who tried to claim and tame this remote and wonderful place. The Dutch angle was new to me. More

Th West Australian Maritime Museum is the ultimate place to visit. there are shipwrecks, cannons and the staff (they did when I was there) dress up as pirates! great value for money and its the perfect place to go if you need your pirate - crazed little boy for some fun! More
