Perth beaches are fantastic if you like lots of white sand and clean ocean. Leighton is the closest beach to the rail (Fremantle) line . Occasionally in summer there's a small surfable wave but mostly it's too small or flat. So it's a good safe beach to swim. A good crowd on a summer's morning. More

Reconstructed second world war gun battery hidden in the sand dunes with loads of military hardware, interesting local history and very knowledgeable staff.
