Declaration of independence 1918, war of independence v Germany and Soviet Union through to 1920. 20 years of getting by then a deal between Germany and USSR. USSR steps in 1940. Germany pushes USSR out 1941. USSR pushes Germany out and stays until 1991 none of which was much good to the Estonians. More

This museum could have been more interesting. It gave a good background to the Sovier invasion in 1940 and the Post war Soviet occupation and the hardships endured bu the Estonian populace. It failed to deal with the holocaust and the collaboration of many sections of Estonian society in the persecution of the Jewish population. More

An interesting little museum although it feels like they have just gathered various exhibits and scattered them around the main floor. There is a downstairs section, which just comprises toilets, various forbidding metal doors and a selection of statutes from the communist era!
