Visiting this museum helps visitors to understand and appreciate the Estonian people, their courage and determination as well as their pride. The experience begins when visitors open a large, heavy metal door to enter the museum, which houses artifacts from the 20thn century occupations and also includes videos of people who lived through those horrendous years. Some pieces (such as... More

Declaration of independence 1918, war of independence v Germany and Soviet Union through to 1920. 20 years of getting by then a deal between Germany and USSR. USSR steps in 1940. Germany pushes USSR out 1941. USSR pushes Germany out and stays until 1991 none of which was much good to the Estonians. More

This museum could have been more interesting. It gave a good background to the Sovier invasion in 1940 and the Post war Soviet occupation and the hardships endured bu the Estonian populace. It failed to deal with the holocaust and the collaboration of many sections of Estonian society in the persecution of the Jewish population. More

Tells the story of the Soviet occupation - which you've probably never heard before. Chat to the staff if it's quiet - for real insights into those dark days More

An interesting little museum although it feels like they have just gathered various exhibits and scattered them around the main floor. There is a downstairs section, which just comprises toilets, various forbidding metal doors and a selection of statutes from the communist era! However, the video narratives are excellent: comprehensive and extremely interesting. Well worth the 2 euros entrance fee... More

This is an interesting museum which gives information about Estonia's recent eventful history. It's small but the videos you could spend a couple of hours watching (these are online too). I spent an hour here. I thought the display of artefacts from the Nazi and Soviet eras were tastefully laid out with good info to describe each item. It costs... More

Hassled by the lady on the desk who insisted we bought our tickets before even seating in the few chairs in the foyer to rest our weary legs. For a moment I thought it was an interactive museum - to make us realise what life was like under occupation. Then I realised she was just rude. Which is suprising, because... More
