A cruise on the River front between Buda and Pest is a must. It is relaxing and if you take one with a tour you get some good information about the history. You can enjoy beverages or nice ice cream too.

All buildings were lit up at night and it was gorgeous to see. Cruise included beverages and lasted about 1 hour. Totally worth doing. Headsets with choice of many languages at every comfortable seat.Large windows so everyone could see the sights easily.
Walking along the Danube is very peaceful and the views are incredible. There are many tours too, We did ours with Big Bus Tours and would recommend them. There was a river cruise which was included, there is also a great restaurant that we found on a boat! Just and explore. The Danube is the lifeblood of the city!

Enjoyed seeing the buildings from the river, unfortunately not enough seats on the boat so had to stand. Part of deal on the Big Bus Tour
Got on a number 11 ferry at the square below the fishermans bastion...spent next 2 hours on the river..cost about 1 euro
... indeed when we visited just after heavy rains it was very brown and fast flowing. But the boat trip along it is the best possible introduction to Budapest. And walking besides it, particularly at night, unmissable.
The river Danube is the main focal point of Budapest. its a vibrant place with lots of cruise boats. The river itself is massive with a strong current running through. If you get the opportunity try the boat trips to fully appreciate the beauty and scale of this river.
plenty of boat trips and margarit island is definitely worth a visit-plenty of greenery and peace and quiet after the noise of the city
You don't have to be too high up in Budapest to see the very best of all the famous landmarks, including the Houses of Parliament which are lit up at night. Take a river cruise plus bus cruise (all in one) which is also hop on hop off!
