We stayed in the Castle Hill area on a recent trip to Budapest. The views over the Danube and " Pest " area of the city are amazing. Walking over the cobblestone streets seeing the many statues, fountains and churches is awe inspiring. I recommend taking a guided tour of the area to really appreciate the history.

My daughter & I took the funicular up to the castle area, where we enjoyed the fabulous views across the whole of the plain of Budapest to the mountains beyond, where it meets with Asia . We very much enjoyed visiting the church where the restoration is almost complete. Every detail was meticulous, including the restoration of fabrics in the... More

There are many things to do on Castle Hill. The beautiful church, the stunning views of the city below, statues, fountains, and wonderful cafes and shops to browse through.

The guides are wonderful and you will learn the history of spying - see the machinery that was used- radios- direction finders, etc. By the way- the walk down the hill from the castle is 10 minutes and lovely- you do not need the funicular. The 16 bus on the opposite side of the chainbridge will take you right to... More

A very nice area to walk around with some brilliant views. There is a funicular up the hill, but the walk isn't difficult. There are really beautiful buildings, plus Fishermans bastion and Matthias church. Don't buy food in the area, its way too expensive.

The cable car had a huge queue so we walked up the hill, it wasnt that bad, didnt take very long really, and so worth it. If you head towards St Matthias the views from there are fabulous!

I did a walking tour of Budapest... we went up to the Castle Hill area, you get fantastic views looking back to the Pest side of Budapest. Made a good photoshooting up there :P

Great views. Take the little tram/train up but not down as the walk is pretty intense especially when its sunny! Cafes are ridiculously expensive so take your own refreshments if you can, but worth visiting for the beautiful views of Budapest.

If walking around the old town go early, otherwise you will have coach loads of Asian tourists trying to take photographs of everything, including you

I loved the contrast of Buda and Pest during my time my Budapest. Buda was the old world cobblestone street quiet side (at least what I saw) and Pest was its lively cousin. Loved walking around Castle Hill, it reminded me a lot of Prague.
