It is always a delight and helpful to have "Locals" who knows and are familiar with the food and culture to bring you around. Virag is down to earth and spoke proudly about the food, social and culture perspectives of Hungary. Gave us some tips on purchasing items in the market. Hungarian Salami both plain and hot ones were delicious... More

Taste Hungary absolutely MADE my trip to Budapest! I experienced a great mix of history, sights, local culture and customs. The food was incredible. I loved the mix of food varying from modern twists of traditional Hungarian favorites to local hotspots. If you're visiting Hungary, I strongly recommend Taste Hungary to help make the most of your time and money. More

We took the Taste Hungary culinary walking tour of Budapest today and it was a real disappointment compared to the rave reviews on this page. Our guide, Virag, was nice, knowledgeable and fluent in English, but the content of the tour was shallow and certainly not for someone who is seriously interested in foods and cooking. It had its highlights,... More

I cannot find the words to describe my day with the Taste Hungary tours. To say it was dreamlike, even perfect, cannot do this day justice. We met up with Gabor and two American ex-pats who also happened to be good friends of his at 8 am on Saturday. I'm so glad we had the group that we did, it... More

Over the two years that I’ve lived and worked in Hungary, I’ve simply become addicted to Taste Hungary tours. Gábor and Carolyn make visiting the wine regions absolutely the best -- because of their outstanding knowledge and their contacts in Hungary’s wine and food community, as well as their commitment to quality, which make these trips THE BEST in terms... My wife and I had an absolutely delightful time during our recent Taste Hungary culinary walking tour. Our guild was a young woman named Virag, who was a complete and total delight. She was enthusiastic and extremely well versed in the foods and wines of Hungary. In fact, a great ambassador for them. We met Virag at 10AM, and didn't... More

If you want to begin to really learn something about a country, you can hardly do better than to learn about what it eats and drinks--and to spend some time talking to those who provide those things. Seeing the "sights" just doesn't do it. On day one, Gabor took us to the central market in the morning and had us... More

Without reservations, I am happy to give Taste Hungary's culinary walking tour the highest marks. My wife Therese and I were in Budapest for our honeymoon which included the day of my 50th birthday (yay, me!). I had bought Carolyn Banfalvi's wonderful book "Food Wine Budapest" and then gotten in touch with her and though there were no tours scheduled... More

I'm rewriting and reposting this as a review. We had high expectations from the tour but was sadly, very very disappointed. I've been in 6 tasting tours and this is by far the most disappointing one. I've outlined my contentions below: - cheese part of tour: While we loved the cheese selection, the presentation and format was poor. It was... More

My wife and I have been taking culinary tours of most cities we've visited over the last year. We were very excited about our trip to Budapest and especially the Taste of Hungary culinary tour. Virág was our guide for they day. She was extremely knowledgeable, passionate, and fun. The tour starts at the main market hall which in itself... More
