Not as bad as in the 90s but you feel you're in a kind of ghetto. Turn into wrong street and loose your camera, wallet, sometimes teeth. You can go by taxi for sightseeing but I don't recommend a walk.

We stayed in the Praga district of Warsaw for 4 days at the Hetman Hotel. Its across the Vistula River.Although people were saying its a dangerous place..etc...I can say we never felt in danger..although we were not out late at night ...actually we quite enjoyed the area..it has a real "neighborhood" feel to it.Yes the buildings are very old and ugly...

We'd heard that this was Warsaw's equivalent to Shoreditch in London - well it's getting there but has a fair way to go yet. Head for Zabkowska St – it seems to be the main destination. This is the kind of place you will either love or hate. If you are looking for edgy bars, art spaces (as opposed to...

This is a district of Warsaw located east from the Vistula river. Although constantly developing, it is not a tourist attraction. In some of the areas it is worth taking special care to be safe as a tourist.

Football stadium worth a visit. Great cafes in the French quarter. Where the locals seem to reside. You can walk across the river to it quite safely.
Don't get me wrong, it's not like there's nothing at all on this side, there are nice things, but you're more likely to run into trouble here than in other parts of Warsaw and also some of the streets are the closest thing Warsaw has to slums.
It is interesting to visit an area that has some pre-war buildings but good to see major developments with metro etc.
It's like a different city, whith pre-war parts preserved let you have a glimpse of what Warsaw was like before being ruined. It has a vary disctinct flavour, great alternative bars in Ząbkowska and the best laid-back club in Warsaw - Sen Pszczoły.
historical tenements but destroyed in great majority and not properly looked after, would not recommend
