This is a facinating monument just outside the Old Town of Krakow. It is very striking and highly prized by the local people. It was a monument that you found something new every time you looked at it.

The Grunwald monument in front of the Barbican commemorates the Battle of Grunwald (go figure!), which as the excellent previous review mentions is one of the most important in Polish history. If you're making a trip to the top of ul. Florianska to have a look at the city walls and the Barbican, don't miss a quick look over the main road to see the Grunwald Monument.
The Battle of Grunwald is Poland's finest military hour, and saw the joint Polish and Lithuanian armies defeat the mighty Teutonic Knights in 1410....
