The walk is well sign posted and you are advised to follow the track as it is a breeding ground for mutton birds.who migrate from Russia each year. We also saw some swamp wallabies as we walked along. There are several interesting signs to read along the way to the lighthouse.Further around you come to the beach and rocks on... More

This island is steeped in local history. In the hour long walk around the island, information is given at frequent intervals to help give more understanding of the importance of this mutton bird colony. Wildlife abounds, along with the carcasses of mutton birds which couldn't get airborne. It's an easy walk and takes you along a spectacular beach adjacent to... More

The Griffith Island walk is wonderful, we headed toward the ocean first (away from the lighthouse) The path is clear and wallabies can be seen if you're very quiet. The scenery is just beautiful and wildlife amazing, we saw many different birds, some little skinks, wallabies and some interesting looking spiders. Once you reach the beach at the back of... More

We enjoyed our walk around the island (it was very hot). The waves were crashing in on the southern shore - most spectacular. We didn't see much wildlife - just an ibis and a few cormorants. Still, it was well worth the walk. More

What a great walk on such a lovely late afternoon and to see the sunset over the water. An easy walk for just over an hour - more a stroll - saw plenty of birds and about 6 wallabies who enjoyed having their photos taken. A shame the lighthouse is not open to the public but it is a good... More
